FAQs About Ketamine-Assisted Therapy for Addiction

What is ketamine, and how does it help with addiction recovery?

Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic used to treat a variety of common psychological conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It can support addiction recovery by reducing cravings, negative thoughts, and behavior patterns, and help with co-occurring mental health conditions that fuel the addiction.

All treatment is delivered on-site by our clinical team. Depending on your plan, ketamine is given as intramuscular (IM) injections or intravenous (IV) infusions, with continuous medical monitoring during a ~2-3 hour visit. For some patients, we may use Spravato® (intranasal esketamine), which you self-administer in the clinic under professional supervision followed by an observation period. Your visit also includes preparation before dosing and integration afterward to support your recovery.

No. Ketamine is not a member of the opioid family.

While it is generally regarded as less addictive than many commonly used substances, such as alcohol and cocaine, ketamine can be a physiologically addictive substance when used daily outside of a controlled and monitored setting. Kadelyx is committed to providing ketamine infrequently in an evidence-based therapeutic context, which does not result in the development of physiological addiction.

Yes, ketamine-assisted recovery programs are safe. Ketamine treatments are conducted in a safe, clinical setting, led by medical professionals.

If you struggle with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), Cocaine Use Disorder (CUD), or Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD), a ketamine-assisted recovery program might be for you. It can also help with co-occurring conditions such as treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Kadelyx offers two recovery programs: the Ketamine-Assisted Substance Use Disorders Primary Diagnosis Treatment, which costs $3500, and Ketamine-Assisted Substance Use Disorders Primary Diagnosis Treatment, including Secondary Diagnosis Treatment and an Integrative Medicine Recovery Program, which costs $11,500.
